Positions for PhD students in molecular physiology of the synapse

The Rosenmund lab at the Charité Medical School in Berlin, Germany is currently seeking motivated and talented young scientists to join our collaborative, international research team. We have multiple graduate student positions for projects examining the fundamental properties of central synapse function. Our laboratory uses an array of techniques, including electrophysiology, molecular biology, fluorescence imaging, functional electron microscopy, cryo-electron tomography and single cell transcriptomics, to investigate the cellular and molecular functions of neurons. 
Our main research interests in the Rosenmund lab include:
  • Structure-function analysis of presynaptic proteins involved in neurotransmitter release
  • The contribution of presynaptic ultrastructure to synapse function and diversity
  • Transcriptional programs underlying synaptic properties and physiology of neurons
  • Fundamental properties of human synapses

Qualifications: We are looking for students who are highly motivated, collaborative, curious and engaged. Successful candidates should hold a master’s degree or equivalent in biology, physics, engineering or related fields. A high proficiency in both written and spoken English is required. Laboratory experience as well good analytical skills are beneficial.
